SpazeCrafte Graffs Mickey Mouse!
My friend Toby from MINDstyles slid me into this very nice custom project, titled, “Mickey Brand Halo”.
Disney Asia & 3-MIX of Hong Kong invited 50 international artists to customize a 12inch mickey mouse vinyl toy. I was one of the 50 asked to participate & was thrilled to whip up a make over!<br>I call this one, “Spaze Crafte’s Electric Kool-Aid Mickey”
In strict NYC fashion, I gave Mr. Mouse some lipstick, a big ‘ol heart for eyes (in memory of Mr. Walt Disney for his super poised vision of creating magic & love in kids lives), Mickey comes complete with a limited edition sterling silver “BKLYN” pendent that hangs down low & he has a “BLINGED OUT” diamond chip ear-ring on his ear as well.

Mickey was labored over for a good week & after brainstorming with my ma, I decided against doing the Mickey meets Dr. Strange make over & to go with the “FLOW” & make this psychedelic Mickey come to life.
Mickey was treated to all the beauty of a NYC graffiti experience with a wildstyle graffiti piece on the back of his head & a message put up on his ears saying “SOUL POWA” in a “toyish” simple letter style.
mickey’s body looks as if it was slightly placed through the “Acid Bath” from the NYC subway system in the mid ‘90’s, thus the statement on his back,
“ACID WASH” (play on the Jeans fad as well).
Mickey would not be complete without a nice little “DONATE LIFE” tag on the bottom of his pants.
We are looking forward to the noise gonna be made as the collection of 50 customs takes Times Square Hong Kong by storm in an official exhibit this summer 2009. here’s a sneak peek @ some of the other world-class artists participating @ the wonderful Toysrevil blog.
