Chris Leavens focuses on creating vector art using Adobe Illustrator. He produces most of his artwork from start to finish entirely in Illustrator, including textural elements. His work incorporates absurdity, anthropomorphism, and a healthy dose of humor.
About Chris’s selected work for his billboard; “Calling the Sun” is based on Chris Leavens’s surreal vector art piece of the same name. It epitomizes what’s at the heart of all of Chris’s work: humor, absurdity, atmosphere, and story (not to mention the obligatory mustache).
Chris’s art — which has been showcased both nationally and internationally in art shows, galleries, and publications — blends influences like Jim Flora, Dr. Seuss, and Saturday morning cartoons into a humorous, surreal, story-packed universe of twisted landscapes and bizarre creatures. Also a video game artist, his work is being featured prominently in the upcoming art-heavy game, “Glitch.” Chris currently resides in the foothills of Los Angeles, California with his wife, Adriana, and their daughter, Sonja.
